Yogyakarta International Airport
The Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is one of Indonesia’s most ambitious airport development projects, designed to replace the old Adisutjipto Airport and accommodate the growing number of passengers visiting Yogyakarta and Central Java. Located in Kulon Progo, the new airport was built to international standards, featuring modern facilities and robust infrastructure capable of handling both domestic and international flights.
As part of this large-scale development, a reliable and durable drainage system became a key priority. With heavy aircraft operations, apron areas, and flyover structures, the airport required drainage products that could withstand enormous loads while ensuring safety and long-term functionality.
Supplying High-Performance Ductile Iron Manhole Covers & Cast Iron Deck Drain
To meet these needs, Infiniferro supplied high-quality ductile iron manhole covers (700x700x100 mm) and cast iron deck drains (medium type) for the YIA project.
- The ductile iron manhole covers were installed throughout the apron area, where aircraft are parked and serviced. These covers protect the drainage network below from debris and damage while maintaining easy access for maintenance.
- The cast iron deck drains were used on the flyover area, ensuring efficient water flow and preventing puddles or flooding on elevated road surfaces.
Both products were designed to meet heavy-duty performance requirements and maintain structural integrity under constant pressure from aircraft, vehicles, and extreme weather conditions.

The design of the manhole covers also incorporates a secure locking mechanism, minimizing vibration and noise while maintaining a flush surface alignment. Meanwhile, the deck drains feature an optimized grate pattern that enhances water discharge capacity while preventing blockages.
