Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport
Located in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport serves as one of the key aviation gateways in Eastern Indonesia. With the steady increase in passenger and cargo traffic, the airport required a major expansion and infrastructure upgrade to accommodate future growth and improve operational efficiency.
One of the critical aspects of this expansion was the drainage system, particularly in areas exposed to heavy rainfall and aircraft operations. The system needed to handle large volumes of water efficiently while ensuring durability under high mechanical stress. The design and material selection for this project had to meet stringent engineering standards suitable for airport environments.
Cast Iron Gratings for Airport Expansion & Drainage Enhancement
For this major expansion, Infiniferro was entrusted to supply high-quality cast iron gratings in several customized dimensions:
· 1000x950x50 mm
· 715x950x50 mm
· 476x500x50 mm
· 550x500x50 mm
· 1000x500x50 mm
These cast iron gratings were installed throughout the airport’s airside drainage network, including taxiway and service road areas. Their primary function is to channel rainwater quickly and efficiently, preventing surface water buildup that could interfere with airport operations or compromise safety.
Each grating is designed to withstand heavy loads, including those from service vehicles, fuel trucks, and ground equipment. The products are also engineered for quick installation and easy maintenance, supporting long-term operational reliability.
Technical Excellence & Product Strength
Infiniferro’s cast iron gratings are manufactured using precision casting techniques that ensure uniform strength, dimensional accuracy, and smooth surface finish. The use of high-grade cast iron gives the products excellent compressive strength and resistance to deformation, even under continuous loading conditions.
In addition, each product supplied by Infiniferro adheres to ISO 9001-certified quality standards, with every piece undergoing thorough inspection, from raw material verification to load testing and final dimensional checks. This guarantees consistency and reliability across all installations.
The gratings’ open-slot design also plays a crucial role in optimizing water flow, allowing for faster drainage and preventing debris accumulation. This ensures the airport’s surface areas remain dry and safe for both aircraft and ground personnel.
